be With E: Spring Decor Refresh

We’re nearing the end of winter and Brigid and Elizabeth are READY to refresh for spring! Join them as they chat through a few tips to move your home from cozy & warm to bright and renewed. While the merits of dyed easter eggs as décor were found lacking, B&E discuss quite a few other ways to liven your home for spring, with out being too holiday centric . HINT: think fresh air, bringing the outdoors in, and lightening things up through scent, fabrics, and prints! And also, if you’re Elizabeth and itching for a big change, you can always rearrange the whole house. (Fine print: Perhaps not recommended for the faint of heart.)

“We’re coming out of the cozy winter fog. LOVE in our neighborhood when people are outwalking. You finally see bodies. -Brigid

The winter fog has lifted, and people are out and about and enjoying springtime (except possibly Elizabeth, sometimes, natch)! Everything feels sunny and refreshing and it’s the perfect time to bring that feeling into your home precisely by bringing the out doors in! The spring refresh doesn’t have to mean holiday décor, though this is a fabulous time to take down the last vestiges of winter you had going (looking at you, cranberry wreath and front porch pot with pinecones). A few of Brigid and Elizabeth’s quick tips to bring a breath of fresh air to your home:

  • Flowers and greenery!! Celebrate the actual ability to see flowers and greenery growing by sprucing up your kitchen counter with some simple, fresh flowers. Toss a few packs of tulips in an unfussy color palate into your cart when grocery shopping (in person, or Instacart, no judgement!) and boom! Instant update.
  • Fix up the front porch–now’s the time to roll up all of those winter doormats that were100% required when snow was on the ground and swap out your front doormat for something a touch more vibrant. (And bid adieu to the birch logs and evergreen dotting the wreath and planter boxes if you haven’t already! Opt for something more branch-like, or floral.)
  • Swap a few heavy-leaning items for lighter, fresher ones. That Sherpa pillow cover or throw that was perfect for snuggling up on a cold, snowy day can be quickly switched out for a lighter linen or more colorful option. Don’t forget the bedsheets! Crisp and cool is the springtime vibe, so fresh sheets and a lighter throw are the answer.
  • Make it smell like springtime! Winter was all about moody scents and pine, but spring is about lavender and citrus, or whatever makes you feel light and, dare we say it, springy! Liven up your candles, cleaning supplies, soaps, and so on. And truly, what’s better than actually opening the doors and letting some fresh air in? So, throw open the windows and bask in that crisp breeze, at least until allergy season, at which point there’s no shame in locking those windows tight and running the AC. A girl’s got priorities, and watery eyes are not on that list.
  • It may feel too soon but start thinking about your outdoor seating situation for summer. You’ll want to be ready for that first perfect patio day! While you’re at it, take stock of the landscaping and start thinking about what you might need to replace, refresh, or what didn’t work last year.

We’ll share a few of our favorite spring refresh items on the shop page so be sure to hop over there (see what we did there? HA!) and take a peek!
